I started the first book in January and I’m done before the end of February. After that I can’t really find the perfect time to read the next book due to my busy schedule. But after several weeks quarantine happened so I took the opportunity to read the rest. I read them in just a month, the whole month of April.
Disclaimer: I’m not good in english, grammar, and my punctuation is terrible.
It was fun reading the whole thing. I never thought I’d be hooked into it this much because first, it is an old book and second I already know the story, thanks to the films. But reading it is a different kind of experience, the twilight world suddenly just got bigger and I learned more about the characters that I wouldn’t know even after watching the series a hundred times. Also, there are lots of scenes that happened in the book that are not included or altered in the film wich makes it more worth the time.
The thing I like most about reading novels is it works like magic, like you’re lying down in your bed one night, then after a while you’re not there anymore, now you’re inside of a fictional world. Novels takes you to places where you’ve never been or never would ever be, and to cultures and societies that you’re not a part of. Even though this series is fictional, I can still get a tiny glimpse of their culture.
I usually read one chapter per day, there are a few reasons why I do that:
- I read slow, like a sloth.
- English is not my mother tongue.
- It allows me to fully submerge into day to day experiences of the character. It allows me to feel like I am the in their world.
- It stretches the time I spend in one book because I don’t usually read novel series so I wanted to spend more time with it.
But while reading this, I found out that I can read more than one chapter a day. I can’t help it but to read more chapters. I kept asking for more, I wanna know what will happen next and it is still fun and immersive experience.
After I read every book I visited Stephenie Meyer’s site. There’s a countdown that I ignored the first time I got there, but then at my third visit I realized that there might be something coming up. Then after four days, she announced the release date of the companion novel of the twilight, Midnight Sun. It was a really great/mind-blowing coincidence that after reading the series, she would be releasing a new book.
I am very excited to read this book. I’ve got a tiny glimpse of what it would be like from the Midnight Sun’s partial draft. And based from the what I read, I can say that is it interesting enough to justify the retelling of twilight.
August 4, 2020 is the date. Perfect escape from all that is happening.
I will end this with my favorite quote from the series.
“When life offers you a dream so far beyond any of your expectations, it’s not reasonable to grieve when it comes to an end.”
